Visual Interfaces to Geometry (91-18)

Abstract

This report presents the results of a two-day workshop on "Visual Interfaces to Geometry" which was conducted at ACM’s CHI’90 Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems. The purpose of this interdisciplinary workshop was to explore and integrate advanced approaches to the visual representation and interactive manipulation of geometric information. The approach taken was to establish desirable properties of interfaces, identify problems in achieving them, and suggest new approaches to solve these problems, in order to improve the communication between users and systems when dealing with geometric information.

The report consists of an edited collection of summaries and research direction papers written by the participants after the workshop. A shortened version of the report has been published in the April 1991 issue of the SIGCHI Bulletin.
