Othello Circumcised: Shakespeare and the Pauline Discourse of Nations

Abstract

Othello's final reference to circumcision in his suicide speech place him in a sries of frameworks borrowed from Pauline Christianity, Paul's reading of Judaism, and the vicissitudes of circumcision in Renaissance Europe in confrontation with Islam.
