The following are two stories from a working collection entitled Tsunami Season. The collection is focused on ex-patriot women, disaster survivors, and women who have been professionally and romantically displaced—emotional refugees. The collection follows young female characters as they struggle for love and financial survival in the time of globalization and technology; as they seek meaning as underemployed millennials when they can be replaced with the swipe of a thumb, the human heart has been reduced to an algorithm, and their best efforts at sexual sincerity can be bought through a money transfer app.
